About five years ago, Fritz & Jane Kunz took over the operation of a farm that has been in Janes family since the 1950s. They transitioned the farm to organic, and now use what were once hayfields for rotational grazing for their herd.
Jane serves as president of the operation, and Fritz is a physician. What may seem like an unlikely combination has proved beneficial to the farm; the family strives to produce highly nutritious products, and Fritzs medical knowledge is a great resource as they work towards that end. The couples two daughtersAnne, 13, and Carey, 11and son Kamman, 9, come together with their parents to help with Friday evening markets at the farm and Saturday farmers markets in other locations. They also do some occasional milking of the cows and helping with the chickens. The farm additionally employs a few professionals to lend expertise to such things as creating products and rotational grazing.

Traders Point Farm Organics raises 100 cows to produce their specialty dairy productswhich can be found under the name Traders Point Creamery including creamline milks, yogurts, and ice creams. They recently added grass-fed beef and mozzarella to their product list, as well. Traders Point cows are lucky cows. The herd happily grazes on natural grasses and is never given antibiotics or synthetic hormones.

Why is growing organic a priority for your family?
Our motto is Nourish the land that nourishes us all. The land is the source of our health, and the health of our society. Organic maximizes the care of the land.

What is your favorite part of being an organic farmer?
The health of the animals and the land. The wonderful products that are produced from our dairy herd. Good ingredients make good products. The appreciation our customers have for our products.

Why should people buy organic products instead of other options?
It is healthy for our bodies, the environment, and for sustainable local food systems. What makes your farm special? The people that work here. Everyone pitches in and helps and is creative. We love the peaceful feeling of the farm.
